S-9: Correct Assemblies and Installation of Rupture Disk and Fusible Plug Type Pressure Relief Devices (Formerly TB-13)

The correct assembly and installation of pressure relief devices (PRDs) is essential to ensure that the PRD will function as designed. There have been incidences resulting from the improper assembly and installation of PRDs.

This publication describes the correct assemblies and installation of rupture disk, fusible plug and combination-type PRDs for compressed gas cylinders and tubes. This publication does not provide application re-quirements or assignments for the various types of devices. For application requirements and assignments for various types of devices, refer to CGA S-1.1, Pressure Relief Devices Standards—Part 1—Cylinders for Compressed Gases and CGA S-7, Standard Method for Selecting Pressure Relief Devices for Compressed Gas Mixtures in Cylinders.
