F-6: Guideline for Providing Statements of Assurance for Food Gases

Abstract

Food manufacturers, registered with the FDA, must qualify their ingredient suppliers to ensure safe, compliant products. They may request statements of assurances from food gas industry suppliers for gases used in their products or to meet customer requirements. These statements cover a broad range of topics, including some irrelevant to food gases.

This publication explains the industry's evaluation of food gas customer product qualification requests and reasons why some topics are not a concern. It also provides sample statements for commonly requested information, which can be included in company letters to meet customer requests. Food gas industry suppliers must ensure all provided statements are accurate and applicable to the gas process. However, these statements may not always meet all customer requests.

This publication does not address issues directly related to compliance or certification at a specific location. The publication also does not address contractual agreements and unique certifications provided by suppliers related to conformance of their products.
