E-20: Standard for Industrial Gas Valve Integrated Pressure Regulators

Abstract

This publication applies to cylinder valve integrated pressure regulators (VIPRs) designed to be fitted onto refillable cylinders used in compressed, liquefied, and dissolved gas applications. VIPRs covered by this publication can be adjustable pressure, preset pressure, preset flow, or adjustable flow outlets.

This publication establishes design and manufacturing requirements relating to materials, construction, performance, test procedures, information, marking, and packaging of VIPRs. Requirements are based on existing technology and represent the state-of-the art at the time of publication. There is no intent to discourage or impede future innovation of VIPRs.

This publication does not apply to VIPRs for:
• Medical gas applications for the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease in humans or other animals. See CGA E-18, Standard for Medical Gas Valve Integrated Pressure Regulators;
• Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) equipment intended for installation and use in accordance with the requirements of NFPA 58, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code;
• DOT-2P, DOT-2Q, TC-2P, and TC-2Q cylinders;
• Nonrefillable cylinders; and
• Cryogenic applications.
